Stories and insights on investing in local businesses and Southeastern startups
Public offerings podcast
Invest Local
Invest Local tells the stories of the entrepreneurs and change-makers behind the businesses down the street: restaurants, breweries, makers, real estate developers and neighborhood projects across the Southeast. In each episode, owners talk about how they got started, how they have funded their growth, and what it takes to build a business that strengthens its community.
Vicinity Capital, now Vicinity Ventures, produced 77 episodes between 2020 and 2023, with stories from Greenville, Charleston, Birmingham, Raleigh, Huntsville, Asheville and more, plus “Vicinity HQ” conversations about local economics and community investing. It is a good introduction to the kinds of businesses that raise capital from their communities through public offerings on Vicinity.

These stories are part of our mission to support and promote local owners. At the time of recording, none of these companies had an active or proposed offering under Regulation Crowdfunding through Vicinity Capital (now Vicinity Ventures) or any other securities intermediary. We are not making any recommendation regarding an investment in any of these companies, nor are we providing investment advice. Should any of these companies make an offering of securities with Vicinity in the future, we will make the podcast available on the offering page as well.

Venture in the South
Venture in the South is a weekly podcast about angel investing in the Southeastern United States, co-hosted by David Grisell and Paul Clark. About half of the episodes are founder interviews, a quarter feature thought leaders from across the region’s startup ecosystem, and a quarter are educational, covering topics such as due diligence, deal terms, valuations and the myths of angel investing.
With more than 280 episodes since 2021, it is the best way to hear how VentureSouth members think about early-stage private investing, and to meet many of the founders they have backed. New episodes are released every week.
Venture in the South is for educational purposes only. Companies discussed may include VentureSouth portfolio companies. Nothing in the podcast is an offer to sell, or a solicitation of an offer to buy, any security. VentureSouth investments are private offerings available only to accredited investors. Investing in early-stage companies is risky, and you could lose your entire investment.
